Generating videos with Krea.ai

Creating videos is still somewhat tricky: you can’t create long videos, it might not be exactly what you describe, and objects in a generated video might act unrealistically (like, going through a wall, or magically changing into something else). However, we expect that video generation tools will become much better in the coming year or so, so it’s good to get acquainted with the process.

There are quite a few services that offer video generation. We’ve chosen Krea.ai for today: they give you access to a few different models, and their user interface is easy to learn. You can access the tool here: Krea.ai video generation. You should be logged in already (check with July if that’s not the case).

To create the video, simply enter a prompt. The generated video will be 5 seconds. You can also upload an image that the video should start or end with. (Or both!) Some tips:

  • Keep the thing you want to display simple. It’s gonna be five seconds, so not too many things can happen.
  • After you generate the video, you can extend it (search for the “Extend” button under the video).
  • If you add a start or end video, it will generate 5 seconds of video that will transition into the real video. So you could combine real video with AI-generated video this way.

Transition an object between two scenes

If you want to get a bit more advanced, it’s possible to combine various Krea tools to create a video where an object (e.g. a product) transitions into a different setting, like this one. This tutorial shows you how:
